Music: Livia Gloria De Angelis
Video & Illustrations: Elisabetta Paustian
Livia composed the music from the memory of rescuing a pigeon — an experience that grew into a story with the feel of a fairy tale. I translated the music into images, designing each scene to reflect the changes in rhythm, mood, and energy. Together, sound and image follow a quiet transformation — from memory, to music, to motion.
To tell this story, we chose hand-drawn characters and painted landscapes for their warm, expressive qualities, enhanced by the textures of paper and pigments. The scenes were animated like dolls in a paper toy theater, giving the video a handcrafted feel. This style echoes the music’s pure tones and gentle expression, inviting viewers into a world that feels both melancholic and tactile.
The illustrations were produced using a mixed media method, blending acrylic gouache with colored pencil accents. Each piece was digitized, separated into individual layers, and animated within Adobe After Effects. The composition was assembled in a three-dimensional environment where virtual cameras move through layered elements, creating depth and perspective. Character movements were primarily realized using After Effects’ Puppet Tool. Final assembly, color correction, and post-processing were carried out in Adobe Premiere Pro.
